Lawn Care Profit Margin Calculator
Check whether a mowing, mulch, cleanup, or landscaping job is profitable after job costs.
Formula
Total cost equals labor, materials, fuel/travel, equipment wear, helper or subcontractor cost, disposal, overhead, advertising, and payment fees. Profit dollars equal job price minus total cost. Profit margin equals profit dollars divided by job price. Effective hourly profit equals profit dollars divided by total job hours.
Example calculation
A $650 lawn care job with $480 in combined costs has $170 estimated profit, a 26.2% profit margin, and $34 effective hourly profit over five total job hours.
Common lawn care profit mistakes
Common mistakes include ignoring equipment wear, forgetting lead cost, missing disposal fees, not including overhead, and reviewing revenue without checking true job profit.
