Handyman Estimate Calculator
Estimate handyman small-job pricing using labor time, hourly rate, trip fees, materials markup, overhead, minimum charges, and profit margin.
Formula
Labor cost equals labor hours times hourly labor rate. Materials markup amount equals material cost times markup percentage. Direct cost includes labor cost, material cost, equipment/supply allowance, overhead allocation, and trip/setup fee. Recommended price equals direct cost divided by one minus target margin. Final estimate applies discount and minimum job charge.
Example calculation
Example only: a two-hour job at $75/hour with a $45 trip fee, $60 materials, 25% material markup, $15 supplies, $35 overhead, and 35% target margin creates a $469.23 starting estimate before job-specific review.
Common handyman estimate mistakes
Small jobs can be underpriced when trip time, setup, material pickup, markup, overhead, minimum charges, and discounts are not reviewed before the estimate is sent.
